Discover a New Species
You can discover a new species to science - we discover an average of about one a month. The International Barcode of Life is creating a digital identification system for every living organism on Earth, and in Tambopata, we are contributing by cataloging some the rarest species of insects. You can help us, and become Charles Darwin for a night. The International Barcode of Life is creating a ditigal identification system for every living organism. We are helping them catalog the Tambopata Barcode of Life. You can help us, and become Charles Darwin for a night.  Every night, resident biologists Daniel Couceiro and Gabriela Orihuela lead a small group of our guests on a collection hike, looking for spectacular tiger moths and other groups of insects. They return with several dozen insects. Rare and cryptic insects are sent to entomologist Juan Grados from the Museum of Natural History of Peru. Those which stump him are shipped to the University of Guelph for genetic sequencing, or barcoding. We discover about 10 new species per month. Join a Rainforest Expedition and join Daniel and Gaby to discover a new species  (surely a bucket list experience).
