Rainy season comes early to Tambopata
Reports from the field indicate that not only at TRC, but that also Posada, have been experiencing some early wet weather. After a hot and smokey dry season the rainforest must be welcoming the early relief. TRC normally experiences higher rainfall due to it's proximity to the Andes. Before the new lodge was contructed a flood in 2003 had the Tambopata River so high that water was running beneath the lodge. We don't expect this to happen anytime soon as the parched earth is sucking up every drop that falls. With the world's climate on its head, we wait with baited breathe to see if the rains coninue or whether we will have a repeat of the dought scenario's of 2005. Hopefully we will get a good balance that leaves everyone with time to enjoy the refreshing rain, but with time enough to get out and take some photos of a revitalized jungle.
