Jungle Night Walk

Jungle Night Walk at Posada Amazonas

Taking jungle hikes during the day at Posada Amazonas is a wonderful way to spot some of the 8 species of toucans that make their home in the rainforest. Itís a great way to watch flocks of parrots and parakeets zip by the canopy tower and experience macaws in the wild. Most monkeys In Tambopata are also active during the day as are other mammals like agoutis and coatis. Nevertheless, most of the 100 mammal species, thousands of insect species, and over 100 species of reptiles and amphibians only come out at night in the Peruvian rainforest.

Once the sun sets in the Peruvian Amazon, the rainforest takes on a very different character. It goes from a green, cathedral-like place where big, shining blue Morpho butterflies flap along jungle streams to being an instinctively foreboding, pitch-black forest filled with the sounds of millions of insects and dozens of frogs. Itís the same peaceful, fascinating forest but you now have the chance to inspect insects with incredible, leaf-like camouflage. Itís the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes, and other rainforest creatures that only come out at night.

During your stay at Posada Amazonas, your guide will be more than happy to take you out on a night walk through the Peruvian jungle. They are always eager to go on night hikes because they know that this is the best time to see dozens of animals and insects that are never found during the day. Night hikes through the jungle with one of our experienced guides often result in amazing looks at bizarre insects that look as if they come from another planet, Night Monkeys that leap through the canopy of the forest, and beautiful, brilliant frogs with shapes and sounds as bizarre as their natural histories. Visit Tambopata to experience the nocturnal wonders of the Peruvian rainforest.
