Amazon Lodge in Peru Texas A&M University. We are partnered with Texas A&M University through various research initiatives, including the Amazon Field Course for the National Science Foundation-IGERT program in Applied Biodiversity.
Amazon lodges American Airlines. assisted RFE and community members with air transportation to the International Ecotourism Conference in Quebec.
Amazon Rainforest Lodge Abercrombie and Kent Foundation. AK Foundation financed part of our Tambopata wildlife plate collection as a strategy to generate income for our guide training workshop which hosts people from the region, including community members.
American Bird conservancy American Bird Conservancy. The American Bird Conservancy financed the harpy eagle research with great success. Results can be read on our section on harpies.
Conservation Internacional Conservation International. In addition to the cooperation agreement recently signed with CI and WCS (see below), we formed part of an exchange project with community owned lodges in Ecuador (Kapawi) and Bolivia (Chalalan), designed to compare each other's strengths and weaknesses. Earthwatch Institute

 

Earthwatch. We currently host 6-8 Earthwatch groups a year who come to work in the macaw project. Part of the macaw project is funded by Earthwatchs participants. Results can be read on our section on the macaw project.

 

Mac Arthur

MacArthur Foundation. Macarthur Foundation helped to fund a series of training workshops for community members who wished to work in Posada Amazonas and also funded the research on harpies. Results of both projects can be found in the section on harpies and the ecotourism project.

 

New Ventures

New Ventures. We have a close friendship with New Ventures, a World Resources Institute venture, that has resulted in hosting a few groups of MBA students that come to help us solve a problem with a consultancy.

 

Canada

Peru Canada Fund. Perhaps our most important financial help, the Peru Canada Fund financed Posada Amazonas with a donation of about 280,000 US$ to the community of Infierno and with a loan of about $100,000 to Rainforest Expeditions.

 

 

Stanford University. We host four Stanford interns every year, during the northern summer. They conduct research on topics related to biology and resources uses. Some of their results can be downloaded here.

 

Wildlife conservation society

Wildlife Conservation Society. We have a recently signed a four way agreement with WCS, Conservation International and Fundacion Backus to promote research in the Tambopata National Reserve and its surrounding areas. TRC and Posada Amazonas are part of its network of research stations in southern Amazonian Peru. As such the research that is conducted in our lodges should gradually become part of a strategy of much wider scope and impact.

 

Moore

Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. we are currently subcontracted by the Moore Foundation's Andes and Amazon program to build three research towers for their radio collar monitoring program. These 80 meter towers will serve to triangulate signals from radio collars placed on species with huge home ranges such as jaguar, peccary and macaws.

 

Zoo frankfurt

Frankfurt Zoological Society. We have been working in close collaboration with the FZS giant river otter program for several years. In addition to hosting FZS researchers at our lodges, we have also aligned our otter monitoring protocol with theirs, effectively feeding important tourism management information to them. We have also adopoted the voluntary tourism management program for Tres Chimbadas Lake.

 

Michigan

University of Michigan International Multidisciplinary Action Project. We have hosted U of M IMAP teams since 2001. Each year a team of MBA's from this prestigious business school visits our properties with the purpose of recommending solutions to a pre-established challenging business scenario.

 

Verde Ventures

Verde Ventures. Managed by Conservation International (CI), Verde Ventures uses debt and equity financing to support conservation-oriented businesses in CI priority areas. Having met VV's sustainability and financial standards, Rainforest Expeditions has been a subject of loan financing from them since 2003.
