June

Sunsets and Sunrises

Sunrises and sunsets in the Amazon are among the most colorful and impressive. The sky can turn to almost any of the colors of the spectrum. The dry season is said to have the most beautiful ones. An extra reward for an early wakeup, if the weather is on your side! Or otherwise a great setting to end a productive day in the rainforest.

Butterflies in Tambopata

During the dry months, and along the growing beaches of the Tambopata River, visitors can observe butterflies feeding on the minerals deposited by the river or sitting on turtles and caiman licking the salt from within their eyes. Between mid June and August, their numbers increase.
Peru is considered the most diverse country in the World regarding the diversity of butterflies. More than half of the 7500 New World species are found here. Tambopata with its approximately 1300 species holds a record for butterfly diversity. “Butterflywatching” may not be as popular as birdwatching but if there´s a place to do this, then it´s Tambopata.
