The “color” of Huito
Between November and December fruits the huito tree (Genipa Americana). Huito is among the local indigenous people one of the most traditionally used fruit as a natural dye. The dark blue coloration one gets from rubbing the clear colored substance against the skin and wait for a few hours was used by indigenous people to paint their bodies, hair and their clothes.
